Is it possible to buy admission tickets at Upopoy on the day?<\/summary>\n

Same-day admission tickets are generally available for purchase from the ticket desk at Upopoy on the day of your visit.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Do admission tickets for Upopoy also grant entry to the museum exhibitions?<\/summary>\n

Entry to the permanent exhibition is included in your admission to Upopoy, but you need to purchase a special exhibition ticket to see the special exhibition.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Is it possible to enter the museum without a timed-entry pass?<\/summary>\n

You can enter the museum and see the exhibition without a timed-entry pass, as we no longer issue them.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

What is the procedure for canceling a one day ticket for Upopoy?<\/summary>\n

Tickets purchased through Webket:
Tickets can be canceled by accessing your purchase history through your Webket<\/a> accoun.Tickets purchased at convenience stores:
Cancel you ticket(s) by contacting the JTB HTA Sales Center on or before the date of admission, then mail your ticket(s) to the JTB HTA Sales Center (postage costs are to be borne by the customer). Please include your name, contact information and details of the bank account into which you wish the refund to be paid. Your refund, any applicable bank fees have been subtracted, will be paid into the specified bank account.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Can I enter Upopoy free of charge if I have a membership card from the Japanese Association of Museums, the Hokkaido Museum Association, or ICOM (International Council of Museums) Japan?<\/summary>\n

Free admission is granted only to members who present their membership card from the Japanese Association of Museums, the Hokkaido Museum Association, or ICOM (International Council of Museums) Japan. *You may need to purchase a special exhibition ticket to see the special exhibition in the National Ainu Museum.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

What type of content is included in the museum\u2019s exhibits?<\/summary>\n

The exhibits introduce the history and culture of the indigenous Ainu people through six themes from their perspective: Language, Universe, Lives, History, Work, and Exchange.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

How long do the screenings in the museum theater last?<\/summary>\n

Are there any activity programs for groups?<\/summary>\n

There are currently no programs available for other groups.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Are there any facilities suitable for group visits?<\/summary>\n

The museum exhibits and traditional performing arts held in the Cultural Exchange Hall are suitable for group visits.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Is parking for buses and coaches available?<\/summary>\n

The boarding area to the west of the park can be used for boarding and disembarking.
We plan to provide parking information for buses and coaches at the boarding area.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Are there any catering facilities for groups?<\/summary>\n

There is a restaurant with approximately 30 seats and a food court with approximately 90 seats at the Entrance Center. There is also a caf\u00e9 with approximately 10 seats at the Gateway Square. If you intend to eat as a group, please contact the relevant caf\u00e9 or restaurant in advance. Please note that tables in the food court cannot be reserved in advance.
Visitors are welcome to bring their own food and eat in the rest areas in the park. When bringing your own food, please take any waste home with you. Please note that rest areas cannot be reserved in advance.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Is there an area for taking group photographs?<\/summary>\n

There are various locations throughout Upopoy where group photos can be taken.
1. The Lawn Square, with the traditional cise<\/em> (houses) of the Kotan<\/em> (Traditional Ainu Village) in the background
2. The Cikisani Square, with either the National Ainu Museum or Lake Poroto in the background
3. In the vicinity of the Kotan<\/em> with the traditional cise<\/em> in the background (this area is recommended for smaller groups)
Please note that there is no signage designating areas for photographs.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Is there a dedicated space where tour conductors and bus guides can wait?<\/summary>\n

Tour conductors and bus guides can use rest areas such as those found in the Entrance Center.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n

Where are the emergency medical services, fire service and evacuation areas?<\/summary>\n

Local emergency medical services are provided by Shiraoi Municipal Hospital (3-1-1, Hinode-cho, Phone: 0144-82-2181 *English-language support provided when available). Patients may be transferred to medical facilities in nearby municipalities or other areas based on the judgment of medical staff. Firefighting services are provided by the Shiraoi Fire Department (call 119 for emergency services). In the event of an earthquake, tsunami or other natural disaster, the designated evacuation area is the hill behind Upopoy, near the memorial site (617-4, Aza Shiraoi). Is there bicycle and motorcycle parking available?<\/summary>\n

The parking lot inside the park has 10 motorcycle spaces and 55 bicycle spaces near the entrance to the parking lot.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Are there vending machines selling drinks?<\/summary>\n

The are two vending machines at the Cultural Exchange Hall, two at the Workshop, two at the Crafts Studio, four near the outdoor restrooms and one in the administration office.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Where can the menus and prices for the restaurant and food court be found?<\/summary>\n

Is there a rest area for visitors who feel unwell?<\/summary>\n

First-aid stations are available at the museum and at the Rental Items desk.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

What accessibility features does Upopoy have?<\/summary>\n

\u30fbGuidance information is provided in braille and audio formats for visitors with visual impairments.
\u3000*Descriptive captions and panels in the museum are not printed in braille.
\u30fbFlashing lights are installed to act in addition to alert sounds for visitors with hearing impairments.
\u30fbFacilities such as multipurpose toilets and stairless access are available for visitors with restricted mobility.

\u30fbTactile paving blocks leading from the pedestrian entrance to the Lakeview Plaza entrance and restrooms have been installed for visitors with visual impairments.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

*Multipurpose toilets at Upopoy are fitted with facilities for ostomates. Multipurpose seats are also available in the Entrance Center, Cultural Exchange Hall and museum.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Is there a nursery and nursing rooms?<\/summary>\n

Nursing rooms are available in the Entrance Center and museum.
There are no plans for a nursery at this stage.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Is there Wi-Fi available?<\/summary>\n

Free Wi-Fi is available throughout the park.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Is there multilingual information available?<\/summary>\n

Information at Upopoy is displayed in several languages in order to allow as many visitors as possible to enjoy learning about and experiencing Ainu culture. Refer to the\u00a0visitor information<\/a>\u00a0page for details.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Are there smoking facilities?<\/summary>\n

Smoking is not permitted anywhere in Upopoy, including the parking lot. This is in accordance with the provisions for the prevention of passive smoking in the Health Promotion Act.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Are there places to buy souvenirs?<\/summary>\n

Souvenirs and other items can be purchased at the shop at the Entrance Center or at the Museum Shop.\u00a0Visit the Shops page for more details.<\/a><\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Is there an area where visitors can eat food from outside Upopoy?<\/summary>\n

Visitors are welcome to bring food with them and eat in the Lawn Square or at the tables and chairs in the two large tents (Apr. \u2013 Oct.) or the rest area (Nov. \u2013 Mar.) inside the paid area.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Are there wheelchairs available for rental?<\/summary>\n

Wheelchairs are available from the Rental Items desk, the Entrance Center and the National Ainu Museum.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Are pets allowed into Upopoy?<\/summary>\n

Animals other than service dogs are not permitted to enter Upopoy, including the parking lot.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Is it possible to re-enter Upopoy?<\/summary>\n

Re-entry on the same day is permitted. If you wish to re-enter, please ask for a re-entry ticket at the entrance gate before leaving and present this re-entry ticket to a member of staff upon re-entry.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

Is it possible to send baggage in advance and pick it up on site?<\/summary>\n

We are unable to collect baggage for visitors.<\/p>\n<\/details>\n\n\n\n

How do I pay the parking fee?<\/summary>\n

The following payment methods are accepted.

Are there guides who can show us around Upopoy?<\/summary>\n

There are no guides at Upopoy. There is a free multilingual audio guide app that can be used on smartphones and tablets, and museum audio guide equipment can be rented for a fee.

Is there a prayer room?<\/summary>\n

Separate men\u2019s and women\u2019s prayer rooms are available in Workshop Annex 2. They can be used without prior request.
There are no prayer mats or a Qibla sign (an arrow pointing in the direction of the Kaaba in Mecca).<\/p>\n<\/details>\n<\/div>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n
